Solutions Rationale
The proliferation of digital technology has led to an increase in connectivity among individuals, resulting in a reexamination and/or expansion of traditional categorizations of individuals, such as national/cultural identity, values-based identity, and online identity.
At the foundation of these human-device interactions is, firstly a person, and secondly, the hardware itself, which is experiencing increased and consistent production output momentum. Over time, continued human-device interaction has led to varying degrees of dependency. In turn, this has led to further production and ongoing reliance. At this point in time, it is safe to assume this cycle will continue.
Between 2017 and 2022, there was a significant increase in the number of smartphone users globally, and it is projected that by 2026, the number of cellular-enabled phones, tablets, or Internet of Things (IoT) devices will rise from 6.378 billion to 7.516 billion worldwide.
Despite the sheer number of these devices, they are currently limited in their ability to communicate and negotiate data independently, autonomously, and securely with each other. They remain “dumb” considering the lack of integration of existing technologies that could and would allow them to be independent.
